How height differs by position

The main pattern in the dataset is straightforward: position group matters for explaining height differences. Defensemen are tallest on average, forwards are slightly shorter, and goalies are the shortest group in this sample. The site also extends this into a multivariable model using thousands of players and more than 10 covariates rather than relying on a single simple comparison.

Height by position

This boxplot shows the spread of heights for each position group and makes it easier to compare their ranges and centers.

This figure shows the full height distribution within each position group, using centimeters as the unit of measurement. The outcome is height, the covariate is position group, and the comparison is framed around the spread of the data rather than a single summary estimate.

Average-height comparison

This chart highlights the average height for each group in a direct side-by-side view.

This bar chart shows the mean height for each position group in centimeters. The covariate is position group and the outcome is average player height, with the comparison highlighting the size of the group differences and the overall pattern of association.
